A DAy in the Life of a Photography Blogger - Day 2

Woo!  Day 2 and already I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with posting daily, so this one may be a short one, but I promised, so here we go…

I got up bright and early today.  Well, not really…  8:15 is pretty much sleeping in thanks to the many years my dad would wake me by 8.  I remember him standing outside my bedroom door clapping his hands and shouting, “Up and at em!  Rise and shine!  Daylight in the swamp!  Places to go!  People to see!  Things to do!  Up! Up! Up!” and if that wasn’t enough to get me up and moving, he’d reach in my door, grab my toes and give a yank!  So anyway, 8:15 wasn’t super early, but I didn’t sleep well last night, so it felt early.

I was happy to be up and about because I was looking forward to a breakfast gathering of some new women friends at our local Anna’s House.  I am buddies with one of the women and got to meet 5 others!  I love meeting new people and I love honest, God-centered women who are not afraid to get down and dirty when sharing life, so this was just the right place for me!  I couldn’t have loved my time with them more.  And I really loved the Corned Beef Benny I ordered, too!

Time Flies When You're Having Fun

My time ended with the ladies too soon because I had to scoot from there to meet up with Dan and Tucker to get to Tucker’s soccer game.  The game was about ½ hour from home and we needed to pick up another kiddo on our way, so there was no time to spare.  I got home just in time to jump in the truck with the boys…  although I needed to swap into a cooler shirt and grab my camera first.  Tucker rolls his eyes when I take his photos, but he loves it when I show up at his soccer game with camera in tow.  Go figure!  Photographer’s kids.  Ugh.

A Lesson in Good Sportsmanship

Our team was pounded today and lost 0 to 7, but the boys were in good spirits anyway.  While we watched, we enjoyed watching a Bald Eagle soar over the field.  I love Bald Eagles, so it made the loss less painful to capture a few shots of him flying above.  The team we played today was made up of boys who were from Spanish-speaking families, so it was also fun to listen to the Spanish being spoken around me and try to understand.  I’m learning, but pretty slowly, so I appreciate almost any opportunity to practice.

After the game, we headed for a couple of openhouses in the area.  We are just beginning to consider what it will look like if we move, so this was a great opportunity to see what was available in that area.  We looked at two homes, knowing full well that neither would be for us, since our house isn’t listed, but it’s fun to see what we like and what we don’t like.  Today we decided we don’t like dirty carpet.

Red Robin... Yum!

Next – back to home to drop off the extra kiddo then off to lunch. I am realizing how much we really like to eat out because here we are on day 2 and we’re eating out again! Eeek! Never-the-less, Red Robin here we come!

We enjoyed our burgers and watched some college football while we were there then headed home for the afternoon.  I like to treat myself to a little nap on the weekends.  I like to pretend I’m going to “read” but I always end up snoozing.  I kind of look at it as needed rest – I mean – would I fall asleep if I didn’t need the rest?  I don’t know, but I’m definitely giving myself some self-love here.

One of my favorite posts ever is HERE, called Dogs Are Gross.  You just gotta read this one!

Expanding my mind

After my little snooze, I awoke to remember that I have homework to do…  Whew!  I almost forgot.  For my Old Testament studies I had to write essay answers for these questions:

1 – What is the difference between a prophet being a mouthpiece and a prophet being a spokesperson? What parts of their revelation did the prophets understand? What parts might they not have understood?

2 – What are some of the warnings the prophets would have had for our generation and culture?

No pressure, right?  In addition to my answers, I also need to have intelligent discussion with four classmates about their answers, so that kept me occupied for a couple of hours.

Be sure and catch up on day 1 HERE

Now I’m catching up with some mindless Big Brother while writing this post.  It’s wonderful to be able to do my work when it works for me.  Working with my family in the room while watching tv is a definite plus for self-employment!

Pretty soon I’ll be off to bed!  Goodnight!
